Garmin FR60 Women’s Lilac Fitness Watch (with heart monitor)

Runners are passionate, no doubt about it! With all the gizmos you can get these days, why not something kick butt for us runners huh? Well, if you’re a women, you’re definitely luck with this cool device. Now, let me point out that a few months ago I was on the prowl for a new watch or device to help me train (thus the reason I finally created this website) and if I had come across this in the mens version, I may have purchased it. The closest thing I remember finding was the Nike + iPod kit, but then, unless you have Nike shoes, I would had to of purchased the extra little pouch to attached the Nike (electronic transmitter) on my North Face Boa running shoes; which I’m not giving up!! Never tying a shoe string again! So back to this Garmin FR60 Women’s Fitness Watch.

Even though it’s a Garmin, it’s NOT GPS. Which is pretty darn amazing to see that Garmin is going into something that has nothing to do with GPS. Must be a vertical market thing, but hey, they seem to do it well; at least from the buzz around this product. What’s best about this Garmin Women’s Running watch, is that it does a little of everything and is looked at more as a total fitness watch. It has the wireless ANT+ technology connecting the heart rate monitor and foot pad.

What makes the non-gps functionality so nice is you can use this womens running watch indoors or outdoors; your not limited by a weak gps signal. You get the foot pad, heart rate monitor, and can pair with an optional cadence/speed sensor; this running watch can pretty much step in and be your own personal trainer. Most of the great praise that these running watches get is also due to the great interface they have with Garmin’s website. Most believe these watches are extremely easy to setup and so you can get to monitoring your heart, rhythm, and fitness metrics as soon as you can. We all know how frustrating it can be to get a new fun fitness toy and then you have to spend the next two hours trying to learn how to use something simple as a womens fitness watch.

So lets look at some of the features and feedback of the Garmin FR60 Women’s Fitness (Running) Watch. For starters, something we didn’t mention above, this watch can keep track of your calories burned, something important for every running wanting to keep track of calorie intake and burn-off. So this running watch tracks speed, distance, heart rate, then the FR60 will wirelessly send the data from your workout to your computer. OK, that’s pretty cool… let’s look at how that’s done (probably some complicated wireless network setup right?) Guess not, most reviews say this fitness watch pretty much sets up itself. Which means you can be up and training in no time. Better yet, its like having a personal fitness coach with you at all times as you can setup personal goals and track your progress.

Garmin FR60 Women’s Fitness Watch really sounds like something to look into if you’re seriously considering a running watch. We can’t stress enough how cool it is to just come walking in the house and your fitness data is already on your computer when you sit down. If you’re thinking about a non-GPS running watch, check out the Garmin FR60 Women’s Lilac Fitness Watch.
